At this time of distressing events in Ukraine we pray to  Almighty God,

Father Son and Spirit for the restoration of order. May normality be restored and conflict end.

 Lord have Mercy.

Christ have mercy.

 

Hear our Lament for Europe both east and west and for Russia.

Lord God, Prince of Peace

 may your peace come and

your will be done.

 

Heavenly Father, God of Grace, pour out your grace on the many who flee home and family to seek safety and shelter elsewhere. 

Fill the hearts, minds and communities in receiving countries with compassion, comfort and reassurance for all who are fearful. 

Enable us all to play our part for fellow citizens of this your world.

We give you praise for all who have responded with compassion.

 

Lord of all Wisdom grant divine wisdom to all our leaders,

heads of state, councils and parliaments to do what is just

 and right. 

Enable sensible decisions to be reached quickly to prevent escalation. 

Hasten the speedy resolution to this turmoil.

 

Father God of all compassion, beyond any human endeavour, remember the children especially and all who left loved ones behind in Ukraine. 

Deliver from distress and the fear of the unknown.  

May all be reunited very soon and may the helpless feeling

of loved ones

in other lands be soon relieved.

 

Loving Saviour, you gave up your life for our salvation; deliver from evil all who are ready to lay down their lives for home and country. 

Spare people on every side the trauma of bereavement or injury.

Save the ordinary citizens of Russia and Ukraine alike from

the horror, hardship and consequences of war

 and from the ambitions of those we fail to understand.

Have mercy upon those who propagate war with their idealism.

 

In all these things we acknowledge our own waywardness and failure

to seek you in peace time. 

Forgive these our shortcomings, hear our confession,

 speak to us by your Spirit

and through your word. 

Deliver us all from evil. 

For yours is the kingdom the power and the glory.

In the Name of Jesus Christ we humbly offer our prayers.
